Getting
set up to do cards
Here is a list to help you
in getting people set up to do cards.
First, you will need to
pick out a website name (URL). I use
www.OpenSouthFlorida.com . I
would steer away from anything referring to the company, product or health, as
all you are NOT trying to “sell” them on the website.
You simply want their contact info so you can “sell” them with the
magazine, CD, or whatever tools you choose.
Also pick a name that isnt too long since the cards are small.
Also pick something easy to
spell, no hyphens and stuff, people mess up typing those in.
Also don’t make it too long cuz the cards are small.
You will need to buy their
URL ($10.19 a year) from www.GoDaddy.com
since that’s the only system I really know how to work in.
So go to GoDaddy, and go through the process of buying a URL.
You will be asked to pick out a password, I request that you use the
password “
As soon as you sign up, you
will need to save your GoDaddy account number.
You will get an email with it listed.
Now you can email me the
following information:
That’s it!
I will whip up the page for you, go into GoDaddy and link it, and send a
“test email”. This only takes a
couple of minutes once the GoDaddy account is all set up and I have the info.
I attached for you a card
“proof” sheet. You make the
necessary changes. You will need to:
Change the area name
Change the website (URL)
name
Change the phone number.
You may need to change the
font size on the website or area names to accommodate the size of the card (I
can help them with this if they arent computer savvy).
I will send a “test”
email when I set up the site. This
test, and all leads, will be coming from me@juli.org
and will have the word “request” in the subject line.
This email is not really coming from me, its just linked to
my webspace, so that’s why it has my email address in there.
I don’t actually generate or even see that email. Also,
sometimes the email will end up in the Junk or Bulk folder, so be sure to check
that folder every day.
The MOST important part of
doing cards is what you do AFTER you get a lead.
This is a relationship business, and you have to treat this lead as they
would any Opportune Moment – you need to do excellent and timely follow-up,
and MAKE FRIENDS with these people! Cold
market will not stick if you don’t make them into HOT market!
This is just a way of finding NEW FRIENDS who are already interested in
your business and then developing those relationships!
Also, you will need to do
THOUSANDS of cards. This is not some
easy, get-leads-quick system, it is simply a method of finding like-minded
people.
If you don’t like the
idea of litter being created, you can go back later to where they did cards and
pick up the “drops”. I do this
all the time. Is it work?
Sure! But hey, this business
is work!
Also, cards don’t have to
be put just on cars, you can leave them around anywhere that people will find
them
